Re: small cut questions
Izzaz, I don't think that's normal. Oo
As for preference, based on my PERSONAL point of view, small cuts help you use less energy and it's harder to see than movement of big cuts, therefore the preference in shiai.

Re: small cut questions
I've been told that we should master big cuts before practising small cuts. Both cuts have different timings, so I think small cuts are not necessarily more preferred in shiai. It all depends on how you manage the cuts and timing.

Re: small cut questions
many thanks. I have been practicing small cuts at home and I find that my right shoulder, at the ball-and-socket joint, hurts quite a bit. Is this normal?

Re: small cut questions
1) "pull my right hand, push with left, then do the reverse to bring it down"
2) Shiai - small, Grading - Big
2) Shiai - small, Grading - Big

small cut questions
Hi, just a few questions thats been bothering my mind. Hope some seniors can help.
1) When doing a small men cut, do I just "lock" the right arm at horizontal level and move my left hand to make the kensaki go down? Or do I pull my right hand, push with left, then do the reverse to bring it down?
2) Are big cuts more preferred than small cuts in shiai or grading?
