You're right to say that it existed in the 80'S. In fact Kyokushin first dojo in M'sia was in Penang taught by a Chinese Sensei. Sadly he passed away.
Well you can try to apply leaves.

Re: 1st All Asia Open Kyokushin-Kan Karate Championship
I am working on that days. The Kyokushin Karate Dojo was already existed in Penang in early 80s, if I am not wrong during my school days.
I watched almost every of their annual tournament in Penang. There was 1 year during the tournament, a bad injuries happened to 1 of the Karatekas. From then on, all Karate Dojo are advised to wear sponged gloves for their training.
Initially, karate practising don't need gloves.
Anyway, this is a Kendo Site, we shouldn't elaborate more about Karate here.
Thank for sharing anyway.

No idea of it being banned in M'sia but in the 90'S there's no Kyokushin in M'sia. You won't be able to find a single dojo at that time after Shihan (sorry couldn't remember his name, all I know is Sosai Oyama send him to M'sia to spread Kyokushin) left the country to prepared for world tournament. No one is teaching at all until early 00'S where Sensei Ding revived it.
Yeah definitely a must see for Karatekas.
Its happening on weekend. Why can't you come over to KL to watch?

Wow! thats Oyama's Karate. The best karate ever. It was almost banned in Malaysia once. That's why that style is not recognised in the Games because of its full contacts with bare hand. But for a real Karate lover must go and watch.
Too bad, its in KL, i can't go. Wanted to join that group in Penang once before but ended with the Goshin-Ryu.

It is painful. The training process is also very painful when you're doing conditioning. Yes tickets are for watching. Let me know if you're keen.
