Style
Even in each kamae there are different variation. Most common to have variations are jodan. you have migi and hidari, but common are hidari jodan. And even hidari jodan are divided into two, one with left leg in front or the right leg in front. For nito there is 2 style sei and gyaku, and each sei and gyaku have 2 variation in footwork. so you could see there are a lot more variations than and kamaes and depends on the practitioner.

For example, studying the Wing Chun lineage that Ip Man studied vs studying other lineages of Wing Chun such as the Jiu Wan lineage, Hung Fa Yi lineage, Yuen Chai Wan lineage but to name a few.
On the other hand, there are 6 different kendo kamae, namely chudan, migi jodan, hidari jodan, gedan, hasso, and waki-game. Of these, 4 are useful in modern kendo. Hasso and waki-game are rarely (if at all) used because there is no benefit but would expose you.
Adopting hasso would leave your kote open and waki-game leaves your men open.
But the most used kamaes now in modern day kendo are just chudan and jodan. Oh yeah, there's nito too.... Two-sword style, shoto (short sword) in one hand and daito (long sword) in the other.....
