Most people would do it in WKC, ASEAN, Hong Kong open, or any other tournaments in the East Asia region.

This is done all the way up to 7th Dan? Hachidan of course in Kyoto la

Most seniors grade during formal tournaments where there are sufficient numbers of senseis. Often, these are held overseas.

Sandan - Ipponme (1) to Nanahonme (7) ; Kodachi Ipponme (1) to Sanbonme (3)

Note:
1) I shall assume that Yondan and above does the same set of kata required for Sandan. However, MKA does not grade higher than Sandan unless there are special circumstances available.

2) Those sitting for Nikyu and below are advised to practice the minimum of Ipponme to Sanbonme in any case you may jump kyus and reach Ikkyu.

Not unless you are going for ikkyu which only requires you to do from 1 to 3.
