It's probably because of the way they see the motodachi when he/she allows the other to hit him/her (Ex. Second round of kirikaeshi ^^||). I feel that their attention were more on the ones who were in bogu. I don't think it's about the kiai...

yeah but when i perform at my school the first performance ppl laugh but 2nd one no one laugh.
Dunno why ppl would laugh.... maybe its the kiai, like screaming.... oh wait, kiai IS screaming.....

that shows how ignorant the publics are about Kendo
and it should be in our mission agenda to educate or at least inform the publics; before a performance with a brief backgrounder of what KENDO is about.

People also laugh at me, when i perform at the budaya night. They start laugh when i start "kiai" . Why ha?????
