Re: Kendo Dojo at SMK St. John, Jalan Bukit Nanas
In the last 100 years, thousands of boys and girls from all walks of
life ranging from royalties to children of prime ministers, politicians,
civil servants and ordinary citizens were schooled at St John's. The
student composition has always been multi ethnic and multi religious and
English is the most common language used in the school throughout the
years. As is the norm in Malaysian boys secondary schools, girls
(collectively known as the Eagirls) are enrolled only in the lower and
upper sixth forms. The students of St John's, who are fondly known as
'Johannians', stand out when compared to those from most other schools
in Malaysia, for they possess a burning spirit - The Johannian Spirit -
that is described as a rich blend of incredible love towards the school,
great leadership skills, unity, loyalty, outstanding manners and class.
The school has continually produced students who have gone on to make
names for themselves in various fields worldwide. Indeed, the old-boys
roll reads like a Who's Who of Malaysia. St John's also has a
distinction for being one of the very few schools in Malaysia which
enrols visually impaired students. As part of their curriculum, the
visually challenged students attend normal classes with the rest of the
students. The school has a resource room for visually impaired students
which is attended by specially trained teachers and a club comprising of
a large group of students who volunteer their time to assist their
visually impaired school mates.

Unless you are a student of St John's, I don't think you will be allowed to practice there. Their's is, after all, a school club. You can refer to the Japan Club KL thread. The dojo is located in Taman Seputeh opposite of Mid Valley.

Thanks for the advice Max22. Wasn't really thinking of Joining St. Johns though. Too far and too early for me even if I was in High School! Hehehe...
Anyways, I'll hop on over to the JCKL thread to found out when's the next intake and IF there's even a spot... heard it's kinda hard to get in...
You are in luck haha. JCKL is planning to have the new intake in this month. Possibly the 19th. However, as it is not confirmed yet, I suggest that you drop Mr Yap an email to confirm it with him, ya? ^^

Plus it's better to have an older person teaching you. Cause if you train in st john's the one teaching you is either yap sensei, or my cousin. So, better go train in JCKL. Anyway, xxxx i miss the st john's dojo. it's hot like hell, small but all my high school memories are right there LOL

Man, I wished I was studying in St John's last time! Would've been kick ass with its own Kendo Club...
Anyway, people keep telling me that no one is too old when it comes to Martial Arts but I'm like, late 20's... I feel old
if I wanna go training in St Johns but I feel so small
if I go training in JCKL.... sigh.... I guess I'll just continue training in my home
.... hehehehe...
